Growing strong through early interceptive orthodontic treatment for kids
There is growing awareness around the numerous benefits to be gained through early interceptive orthodontic treatment for child. The orthodontists at MP Orthodontics are highly experienced in treating children and creating brilliant children's smiles!
Braces for children or other forms of orthodontic treatment for child can be commenced as early as seven years of age. If you are maintaining regular hygiene visits to your dentist, they will be a good first point of contact to advise the most ideal time to make your child’s first appointment with an orthodontist experienced in providing orthodontic treatment for children.
We will work closely with your child's dentist and together we will provide advice about when your child should seek orthodontic treatment. Want to know more?
The ideal timing for your child’s first appointment with an orthodontist is between the age of seven and ten years.

We appreciate that for some children, early treatment of a kid by an orthodontist may seem daunting. We will work with you, your child and your dentist to help navigate this period. A philosophy we share with our youngest patients is that early treatment may shorten and simplify treatment in future, making life as a teen and adult so much more enjoyable.
If your child does not require treatment from an orthodontist at this time, we encourage you to maintain a program of regular monitoring checks - no less than annually - that allow us to assess how your child’s needs may change as they grow and develop.
We can set up a regular recall so all you need do is confirm your appointment with your kid's orthodontist and come see us!
If you and your children maintain regular visits to your dentist, your dentist may make the initial suggestion to visit an orthodontist for an early assessment for one or more of your children.
Even if you’re not seeing a dentist regularly, you can still make an appointment for your child to see an orthodontist for an early assessment.
No referral is needed and while we encourage our patients to work with their dentist, we’re more concerned your child receives the timely and accurately diagnosed treatment from one of our orthodontists.
We strive to make our treatment pathway clear and uncomplicated to deliver the best outcome for your child's orthodontic treatment whether it be braces or some other form of treatment.
